STATE OF
THE ART ULTRASOUND

Often the better the equipment,
the easier the diagnosis is made.
.

Ultrasound gives us a fantastic opportunity to look at how the body functions in ‘real time’ – it is amazing to watch!

.

WHY WOULD YOU NEED ONE?

___

Your Clinician may ask for you to undergo an Ultrasound Scan at the Prime Health. Ultrasound machines work by sending harmless soundwaves into the body and capturing them again as they bounce back. This allows us the opportunity to see ‘real time’ images of structures such as tendons, ligaments and veins or organs such as the heart, liver, bladder, ovaries and womb.

Ultrasound can also be used to accurately inject painful or inflammed joints, tendons and ligaments and these are called ‘Ultrasound guided injections’.

.

YOUR SCAN

___

We will ask you to arrive about 15 minutes before your appointment time so that you can relax with a drink and complete a Registration Form. You will be taken through to the Diagnostic Suite to get changed and deposit any valuables as necessary. Your will then be introduced to one of our Consultant Radiologists who specialise in Ultrasound scanning. They will explain the process and perform the scan or guided injection for you.

.

YOUR RESULTS

___

Once your Ultrasound scan has been completed and you will be able to get dressed and collect your belongings. The scan images will then be reported on by the Radiologist who conducted your scan and we will forward the results onto the referring clinician within a couple of days. Your images will be kept safe and secure, so if you ever need another copy then we can access them easily.
