COUNSELLING SERVICE AT PRIME HEALTH
Mental health support for adults
If you have been struggling with mental health issues, whether that’s feeling depressed, stressed or struggling with anxiety, or maybe you are facing a challenging time in your life and you feel unable to cope, then you may benefit from counselling.
Counselling can help with a wide range of conditions including:
- A mental health condition such as depression or anxiety
- A traumatic life event such as a bereavement, a relationship breakdown or a stressful time at work
- A distressing physical health condition
At Prime Health, Surrey, we can now offer an expert-led counselling service. The service, which uses a person-centred approach, provides patients with a safe non-judgemental space in a therapeutic environment where emotions can be explored and personal coping mechanisms developed, to help manage their condition.
Our counselling service is built on trust, honesty and respect. Whether you require counselling sessions for a short or long period, our counsellor is there to help when you need it. Although we treat every patient uniquely, we initially recommend committing to a minimum of six counselling sessions.
Although you can be referred by your GP, you can also refer yourself for counselling at Prime Health, Surrey. To ensure our service is suitable for you, we offer a complimentary initial assessment call with our counsellor. During this call they will discuss the challenges you are facing and advise if you will benefit from counselling.
WHAT IS A PERSON-CENTRED APPROACH TO COUNSELLING?
A person-centred approach is ‘is a humanistic approach that deals with the ways in which individuals perceive themselves consciously, rather than how a counsellor can interpret their unconscious thoughts or ideas.” It can help you reconnect with your inner values and sense of self-worth and enables you to find your own way to move forward and progress.
WHAT SORT OF CONDITIONS DOES THE COUNSELLOR SEE?
There are many things that counselling can help with, and our councillor sees people with a range of conditions or challenges. As an example, you may have recently lost someone close to you and are struggling to cope, or you, or someone close to you, may have been diagnosed with an illness and you are worried about treatment or the future – whatever you are concerned about it’s worth seeing if counselling might help.
HOW DO I KNOW IF I WILL BENEFIT FROM COUNSELLING?
We are more aware than ever of the importance of looking after our mental health – it’s good to address the matter before it gets worse, and our service is built on trust and honesty. At our initial assessment call, we will discuss your challenges and advise if you would benefit from using our counselling service. Every patient is treated individually but we usually find that committing to a minimum of six sessions is beneficial.
