A prostate MRI has become a central part of assessing prostate health, particularly for men with a raised PSA. It gives a detailed picture of the prostate and can help decide whether a biopsy is needed at all, and if so, exactly where to target it.
Bi-parametric and multiparametric
You may see two terms. A multiparametric MRI includes an injection of contrast dye; a bi-parametric MRI does not. Which is appropriate depends on your circumstances, and the reporting radiologist and your urologist will advise.
Field strength
Prostate imaging benefits from a higher-field scanner. Our Weybridge, Harley Street and Stockport centres run 3T scanners, and image quality matters for this particular question.
What happens next
