A private CT scan at Prime Health takes 15 to 30 minutes and is offered at Weybridge and Brighton. CT uses ionising radiation, so a referral is required by law before the scan can go ahead. If you do not have one, we can arrange a private GP appointment and provide the referral ourselves. Reported by a consultant radiologist within a short turnaround.

What a CT scan is good for

CT builds a detailed cross-section from many X-ray images, which makes it fast and excellent for chest, abdomen and complex bony detail, and for situations where speed matters. Where there is no radiation reason to prefer it, an MRI or ultrasound is often the better first test, and we will say so.

What happens on the day

The scan itself takes only a few minutes; the appointment is 15 to 30 minutes with preparation. Some scans use a contrast injection where it adds clinical value. A consultant radiologist reports the images and we return the report within a short turnaround.
