Clinical Imaging Facility, Swansea University
Imaging in Swansea is not new, and neither is the unit. It joins our network during 2026, so patients and referrers keep the service they already know.
What is changing, and what is not
The Clinical Imaging Facility at Swansea University joins the Medical Imaging Partnership network during 2026. Diagnostic imaging is not new to South Wales and neither is this unit, so the service continues: clinicians who already refer here do not need to do anything differently, and we will write to referrers before anything changes.
What is on site
MRI and CT, covering neuro, MSK, vascular, body, cardiac and gynaecological imaging, for adults aged 18 and over. Scanning is done by radiographers registered with the HCPC. The MRI is a 3T Siemens MAGNETOM Skyra with a 70cm wide bore, the same scanner we run at Harley Street and Stockport, which is how the reporting standard stays the same wherever you are seen. CT is a Siemens SOMATOM Definition AS.
Who reports your scan
Scans are reported by radiologists working in their own subspecialty: MSK, neuro, uro-radiology, cardiac and oncology. Most reports reach the referrer within one to five working days, and anything urgent is escalated straight away.
A bilingual service
Swansea is a Welsh language service as much as an English one. You can contact us in Welsh and we will reply in Welsh, and choosing Welsh will not slow your appointment down. Appointment letters, forms and information leaflets for this centre are bilingual, and signage and reception information are bilingual too. We are auditing Welsh language skills across the team so we can say plainly which parts of the service are available in Welsh and arrange a Welsh speaker where one is needed. If anything in our Welsh could be better, tell us and we will put it right.

Every scan is reported by a consultant radiologist. A body part is one area, such as a knee or the lower back; scanning more than one area in the same visit is priced per tier below. Contrast, where clinically needed, may be charged separately, we tell you before you book. Self-pay or insured. Call us on 0330 025 2100 if you cannot see what you need.
