What CT is good for
CT builds a detailed cross-section from many X-ray images. It is the right first test for chest, abdomen, complex bony detail and where speed matters. Where there is no radiation reason to prefer CT, MRI or ultrasound is often the better first look, and we will say so honestly.
What happens on the day
Arrive at the Amex, park on site, check in. The scan itself takes only a few minutes; the appointment is 15 to 30 minutes with preparation. A consultant radiologist reports within a short turnaround.

Yes, by law. CT uses ionising radiation, so it must be requested by an entitled referrer and clinically justified before we scan.

How long does a CT scan take?
The scan itself takes only a few minutes; the appointment is typically 15 to 30 minutes with preparation. Some scans use a contrast injection where clinically indicated.
Who reports the scan?
A consultant radiologist reports every CT. Reports are returned within {turnaround} and, with your consent, shared with your referring clinician and your own GP.
Do you also offer cardiac CT (CTCA)?
Yes. Cardiac CT (CT coronary angiography) is offered at Brighton alongside our Weybridge centre.
Is there parking?
Plenty of parking on site at the Amex, a real difference to a central Brighton appointment where parking is difficult.
Do you take insurance?
Yes. Bring your policy number and pre-authorisation and we bill the insurer directly.
