In partnership with Prime Health · Sports & performance medicine
Elite-sport medicine, at Prime Health.
Consultant-led assessment, diagnostic imaging on site, image-guided injection therapies and structured rehabilitation, the same joined-up standard that looks after professional athletes, booked directly with Prime.
Thoughtful medicine, joined up around one person.
The O-Group brings the standard of care built for elite athletes to those who expect the best for their health, longevity and performance. Founded and led by consultants in Sport & Exercise Medicine who work at the highest levels of professional sport, its principle is simple: nothing in isolation, a full circle of care around each individual, delivered at Prime Health with diagnostic imaging on site.
Consultations, imaging and interventions
The building blocks of care. Imaging is provided and booked by Prime Health; everything here is booked directly with Prime. Prices are indicative "from" guides, not a quote, and are confirmed on enquiry.
Initial MSK consultation
A full assessment with a Consultant in Sport & Exercise Medicine, including examination and a plan for any imaging or treatment.
Follow-up & MDT review
A review to discuss findings and progress, or coordinated input from the wider team, medicine, physiotherapy and strength & conditioning, around one plan.
MRI, single region
Detailed imaging of one area, e.g. knee, shoulder or spine region. Prime's published self-referral price.
Ultrasound, X-ray & CT
Real-time soft-tissue ultrasound (often used to guide injections), plus X-ray and CT where clinically indicated.
Injection-led recovery
Consultation and assessment, an image-guided injection where appropriate, and a structured rehabilitation programme block, coordinated end to end.
Rehabilitation programme block
A structured course of physiotherapy and conditioning sessions with the clinical team, designed around the individual.
Injection therapies
Described honestly, what each is, what's worth understanding, and when it would be considered. Suitability is always decided at consultation, and injections are used as one part of a wider plan, not in isolation.
Corticosteroid injection
Anti-inflammatory medication placed at the site of a joint, tendon sheath or soft-tissue problem, usually under ultrasound guidance for accuracy.
One of the most established injections in musculoskeletal medicine. Its effect is temporary and varies between individuals, so it is typically used to create a window for rehabilitation rather than on its own.
For certain inflammatory joint and soft-tissue conditions. Suitability is assessed at consultation.
Hyaluronic acid
Hyaluronic acid occurs naturally in joint fluid. As an injection (sometimes called viscosupplementation) it is introduced into a joint, most commonly the knee.
Used in specific situations and not suitable for everyone. A course of injections may be involved rather than a single treatment.
Typically discussed for certain cases of joint osteoarthritis, as one option among several. Assessed individually.
Arthrosamid
An injectable hydrogel used in the knee, given as a single injection under sterile conditions.
A newer treatment, currently offered privately, with a growing but still-developing evidence base. The hydrogel is intended to remain in the joint, important points to understand and discuss before proceeding.
Discussed for certain cases of knee osteoarthritis where it may be appropriate. Suitability is assessed carefully at consultation.
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP)
A small sample of your own blood is processed to concentrate the platelets, which is then injected at the site of the problem, usually under ultrasound guidance.
The evidence for PRP is mixed and continues to be studied. It is used selectively rather than routinely, and responses vary between individuals.
Discussed for certain tendon and joint conditions on a case-by-case basis.

Treatment with anti-doping in mind
The O-Group's clinicians work at the highest levels of professional sport. For competitive athletes, treatment decisions are made with awareness of the current WADA Prohibited List, and athletes are advised on what any option may mean for their eligibility. The Prohibited List is reviewed annually; this does not replace an athlete's responsibility to check their own governing-body and anti-doping obligations.
