Western medical acupuncture is a therapeutic modality involving the insertion of fine needles; it is an adaptation of Chinese acupuncture using current knowledge of anatomy, physiology and pathology, and the principles of evidence based medicine.

Dr Amer Sheikh is a GP who blends modern medicine with complimentary therapies including acupuncture to achieve the best results for his patients. He is an instructor for the British Medical Acupuncture Society and analyses and summaries international acupuncture studies for “Acupuncture in Medicine”, the leading international acupuncture journal. He holds a Master’s degree in Pain Management and is a member of the International Association for the Study of Pain.
